Register a Returning MISD Student for 2016-17 School Year

Attention: This page describes the registration process for students returning to Melissa Schools for the start of the 2016-17 school year. 

NOTE: Our online system is not compatible with smart devices. We advise that you use a laptop or desktop computer and the Internet Explorer browser.

Please print the Returning Student Registration Instructions in English or Spanish. This document will help step you through the Returning Student Registration process in txConnect Parent Portal.

Open Parent Portal to Begin Registration


Step 1: Enter Preliminary Data

  1. Login to the txConnect Parent Portal system.
  2. txConnect opens to the Summary screen.
  3. Click on the View/Edit Forms button located on the left hand side under your child's name.
  4. Click on Returning Student Registration.
  5. Select the form you wish you update by clicking on the underlined form title.
  6. After you have selected the desired form, click on the Select box that appears directly below the form.
  7. Select the Edit button to update a data field.
  8. Type in the requested data change.
  9. Once all desired changes have been made to a form, select Save Changes.
  10. You will receive the message, “Data saved successfully!”.

Step 2: Update Required Forms

There are three forms that must be updated under the Returning Student Registration area: Registration, Contacts, and the Melissa Schools Registration Packet. All three forms are required to complete the returning student registration process.

Form 1: Registration

This allows parents to view their student’s information as it appears in the district’s student information software system, and make any necessary updates.

Please Note: All areas shaded in yellow are mandatory data fields. If data is not contained in these fields, please provide the necessary data. Changes will not be successfully saved and submitted to the district until all areas, shaded in yellow, have data entered into these required fields.

**If you update the student’s date of birth or your physical address, documentation is required prior to the district accepting the requested changes. For your convenience, the documents can be uploading to the school while updating this form. At the bottom of the Registration form you will notice two areas shaded in pink. These are areas that allow you to upload a birth certificate or proof of residency (current utility bill). You can scan and upload the document or by using a smart phone, take a picture of the document and upload the picture.

Form 2: Contacts

This allows parents to view their student’s contact information as it appears in the district’s student information software system, and make any necessary updates. Please Note: All areas shaded in yellow are mandatory data fields. If data is not contained in these fields, please provide the necessary data. Changes will not be successfully saved and submitted to the district until all areas, shaded in yellow, have data entered into these required fields.

Form 3: Melissa Schools Registration Packet

This packet is an editable PDF document. For your convenience, many fields are auto-populated from information you completed on the first or last page of this packet. To digitally complete the registration packet, you need to follow the instructions below for the “submitting” choice that best fits your family’s individual needs.


Step 3: Complete Registration Packet

If you’re using a browser other than Internet Explorer, please make sure to DOWNLOAD/SAVE the Registration Packet. Then, locate the file (typically in the Downloads folder), open it in Adobe Reader, fill it out, and submit it using one of the options below. (Please disregard the submit button on the form.)

If you don’t have Adobe Reader, please utilize the computer lab days on Aug. 10 & 11 to complete the registration process.

Select an Option:

Option 1 (Preferred) - Send by Email

  1. Complete all of the required fields in the packet.
  2. Sign the Electronic Signature Agreement on the last page.
  3. Go to File > Save As on your menu bar (see photo above).
    • Save packet as a .PDF with the name of “Student First Name Last Name“.
  4. Click on the email link for your child’s campus.
    • Attach the saved student file.
    • Send to campus.
    • Save the copy for your records.

Option 2 - Print and Turn in at Campus

  1. Complete all of the required fields in the packet.
  2. Sign the Electronic Signature Agreement on the last page.
  3. Go to File > Print on your menu bar (see photo above).
    • Print a copy of the entire Enrollment Packet.
  4. Take the completed packet to your child’s campus.
Option 3 - Complete at Campus Lab

Digital Completion at your Child’s Campus

See your child’s campus for further instructions on completion. Available open labs:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 10: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 11: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Registrars will be in the labs to assist you with this process.
