The Melissa High School Cardinal track teams competed in the 11-4A district meet on Thursday, where the junior varsity finished as the district runner-up with 128.5 points, and the varsity came away with the district championship with 200 points.
In total, 25 athletes qualified for the area track meet, which is the highest number in program history. Other record-breaking times were earned in the 4×100 relay, 4×200 relay, 4×400 relay, and the 1600m.
“It was the most complete meet we’ve probably ever had,” said coach Travis Roberson. “We ran well in every relay, all distance, hurdles, and sprints. The field event kids really came through for us also.”
The Cardinals compete next in the 11-12 4A area meet on April 19 in Princeton.
