The Melissa High School Boys’ and Girls’ Golf teams both took the District 12-4A title at Monday’s tournament.
The Girls’ Varsity Golf team won their eighth straight district title by a whopping 225 strokes over second place holder Princeton. Brooke Nolte shot 74 to take the individual gold medal and Erin Wells took the silver. Claire Miller shot a 96, Leah Tyner a 98, and Victoria Wistl came in with a 103. Reese Murphy and Madison McCombs rounded out the team, competing as individual medalists.

After graduating the majority of the team last year, the Boys’ Varsity Golf team – consisting of one senior and four freshmen – won their fourth straight district title.
Senior Aubrey Allen anchored this year’s District Champs, shooting a 99-96 and placing fourth overall. Freshman Nathan Foster took second by shooting an 87-104. Two freshman Cardinals improved from the first to second rounds: Matthew Brown shot a 104-101 and Connor Newberry shot a 106-102. Josh Brinlee rounded out the team with a 111-111.
This year the Cardinal’s entered two medalists in the District Tournament: Riley Boren, who qualified as the 2nd alternate by shooting a 109-103, and Clayton Ashley, who played a consistent 107-107.
This year’s Regional Golf Tournament will be played April 11-12 at Van Zandt Country Club.
