The Melissa High School Cardinal Track and Field team traveled Thursday to compete in Farmersville.

The JV boys’ team won first place as a team with 180 points. The Varsity boys’ team captured the team championship with a total of 196 points, beating district rival Celina by 60 points.

“This was the first meet of the season where all members of our track team were competing, and what a difference it made,” said Coach Travis Roberson. “There were numerous outstanding performances for both the JV and Varsity teams.”

Due to a technical malfunction, the 400M did not point. However, if it had, the Varsity team would have scored over 200 points.

The Cardinals compete next at the Melissa Cardinal Invitational on March 23.
