Melissa Schools and the Melissa Booster Club will unveil a new Cardinal Fan Bus on Thursday, Aug. 17 at Meet the Cardinal Night. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium with gates opening at 6:30 p.m.
The Cardinal Fan Bus is a newly restored 27-year-old school bus that, according to transportation director Weston Bartlett, was initially set to be auctioned off by the district. That is, until the idea of a “fan bus” came to mind.
“This is a better way to serve our kids,” Bartlett said.
The Melissa Schools transportation and technology departments worked closely with the Melissa Booster Club this summer to restore the bus.
The Cardinal Fan Bus features a built-in TV display, stereo sound system, coolers, storage, and bench seating. The bus is designed to sell merchandise and has a modified event deck with additional seating space. Bartlett says that more features will be added to the bus in the future.
The Cardinal Fan Bus will be a place where Cardinal fans can congregate, watch games, and purchase Cardinal gear.
The community can expect to see the Cardinal Fan Bus travel to sporting events of all kinds – both at home and away – and to other school functions throughout the district.
Dude’s Music donated sound equipment for the Cardinal Fan Bus, and Dave’s Signs & Auto Wraps provided graphics.
