Omar Landrum has served as a member of the Melissa Schools Board of Trustees since 2017.
Omar and his wife, Kim have been married for 12 years and have two children: Jason, a junior at Melissa High School who plays football, powerlifts, and runs track, and Brooklynn, a 4th grade student at Melissa Ridge Intermediate who plays golf and is crafty with do-it-yourself projects. Both kids are active in the youth ministry at church.
Omar earned his B.A. in Elementary Education from Southern University at New Orleans. He has worked for 18 years in law enforcement, and is currently a crash reconstructionist, crisis negotiator, and police motorcycle instructor.
Omar is a military veteran of the Louisiana Army National Guard, for which he served in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Omar was formerly on the Board of Directors for Bishop Perry Middle School in New Orleans. He enjoys playing golf and riding motorcycles.
